French Verb Tenses

French verbs are conjugated in four categories known as moods: indicative, subjunctive, imperative and the non-personal forms. The indicative mood includes the present, imperfect, preterite, and future tenses. The subjective includes the simple subjunctive and the past subjunctive. The imperative has one one tense — itself. The non-personal includes an infinitive, a gerund, and a past participle.
